Bio

Aloha! I'm Hunter. I love skateboarding, surfing, traveling the world and exploring my own backyard.  I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii where I learned to skateboard by skating from sunrise to sunset at Hawai'i Kai skatepark.

When I was growing up skateboarding was "not for girls" and I was not allowed to do it.  That didn't last long! I did everything in my power to skate because I was in love.  I was a strange little girl who wanted to be a skateboarder and for years I was the only girl I knew who skated. So when I turned 18, I started looking to the mainland and competing in Pro events.  I had no clue if skateboarding would ever be a reasonable career path given the limited resources and events women had at the time.  Either way, I was a skateboarder.

That was 5 years ago. From the second I dropped in on the Hawai'i Kai mini ramp, skateboarding stole my heart... and I also fell on my face.

What that little girl didn't know is that she would be here today ( June, 12th, 2018), writing her web bio from X Games qualifier in Boise, Idaho.  Or that skateboarding will have taken her to Italy, China, Australia, Brazil, Spain and many more places to go!

While I love competing in highly regarded events like the X Games, US Open, and VPS world tour, it's all for the love of skateboarding.  Without fun, pushing the limits of progression wouldn't be sustainable, and I've learned that the hard way.  Skateboarding is like an art in that way because if it isn't coming from a place of love, it isn't even worth it.

Being a skater has been the ultimate journey of self-discovery for me.  I've learned so much about what truly matters from a simple toy.   Gratitude is the only word I can think of right now.  I've received so much from my skateboard and I hope to reciprocate by giving back in a passionate way.

On my website, you can expect to find blogs and videos about my passions:

-All things skateboarding (from contests, traveling the world, gear videos, trick tips, and more)

-Health (basically just things I find interesting or delicious-lots of recipes)

-Fitness (just the fun stuff, nothing too weird)

-Eco Products ( I plan to launch an eco store!)

-Plastic Pollution!  This is my biggest passion and I hope to spark some change in the way people look at single-use plastics.

Mahalo for following my journey!

Aloha,

Hunter
